The Night Sky - Simply Magical The world famous Night Sky app comes to Windows 8!
The Night Sky is a magical app that enables you to identify the stars, planets, galaxies, constellations and even satellites you can see above. Just stand anywhere and hold your Windows 8 tablet device up to the sky and The Night Sky will display the names of the stars, planets and other objects you are able to see, just like magic!
Even if your view is obscured by clouds or daylight, The Night Sky app will know which stars, planets, galaxies, constellations and satellites are hiding from your view! You have to use this app to realize just how amazing it is!
The Night Sky does this by using your location data provided by the GPS and compass built in to most Windows 8 tablet devices. It then cross references your location data with its inbuilt map of the sky and overlays the stars, planets, galaxies, constellations and satellites names on your screen. It really is magical and will amaze you, and anyone you show it to!
Even if you are using a desktop PC, The Night Sky is still magical! It will show you the sky above you creating your own personal planetarium from the comfort of your desk!
With the new Sky Information Pack, The Night Sky now gives you a wealth of information about the objects you can see. No longer will you wonder what is above you, The Night Sky has all the information you need to answer all your Night Sky questions!
So next time you're gazing up in to The Night Sky and wonder the name of a star, planet, galaxy, constellation or even a satellite, just get out your Windows 8 device and let The Night Sky app amaze your gaze!
The Night Sky really is simply magical!

fantastic promise, but needs a few fixes by Michael and Kyla
I can't wait for this app to be refined a bit! Right now, the view is 90 degrees off on my surface rt - it says west is south. Also, the augmented reality is an awesome idea, but doesn't really do anything since it only uses my front-facing camera (at least, I couldn't see any way to select the rear camera). I'll keep it installed with the hopes that it gets updated quickly, as everything else is really quite nice. Edit: timed trial is too limiting-I can't get updates to know when it's fixed!

The app keeps crashing and having problems when trying to access the menu.

Rudimentary App by Fredrick
Don't waste your time with this one, you are better off with a paper sky chart. Very slow, few details, inaccurate rotation (it was showing west while pointed north). I wish I could get my money back.

Good but.... by Jeff
I like this app but, it is a bit "off." When I point it to the North it shows East or West. It is great but is in need of an update.

Crashes always by Phillip
I use a Surface RT with Win 8.1 I don't recall having a problem with this program a year and a half go. Unfortunately, it crashes every time and won't stay open. I'll uninstall it if there is no solution.

Sky is reversed in compass mode by Kenny
When the app is placed in compass mode the sky is reversed. When pointing the surface north the screen shows the Southern horizon, etc.there does not appear a means to calibrate. not bad otherwise.
