Description

rtRemote is a remote control for iTunes that offers similar functionality to the Apple Remote App for the iPad and iPhone.

rtRemote supports music, podcasts, movies and TV programmes and displays all your favorite cover art, dvd artwork and track metadata.

Note: You need to have a copy of Apple's iTunes program running on a computer on your network (rtRemote cannot connect directly to the iTunes store or to your iCloud account). rtRemote does not require any other software to be installed on your Windows 8 PC or tablet.

** New feature in this release: If you are running our Windows Desktop app 'iHomeServer for iTunes v3' you can now stream your iTunes media directly to rtRemote using our 'Play Here' feature. Note this is only available if you are an iHomeServer v3 user and excludes DRM protected content - see http://www.bizmodeller.com/iHomeServer for further details **

Pairing with iTunes

When first run, rtRemote needs to be paired with your iTunes library. It's a really simple process that takes only 30 seconds - the App will guide you through the steps to do this on first launch. (Note: If you are running rtRemote on the *same* computer as iTunes then you will need to download our free pairing app from our support website - this only needs to be run once at the time of pairing.)

NB: rtRemote is now advert supported - you can remove adverts with an in-app purchase from the Settings charm. Customers who purchased rtRemote before 11th November 2012 are entitled to free ad removal - please email us at [email protected] for your coupon.

We really do listen to our users so if you have any issues with the App or have a feature suggestion then please let us know at [email protected]

Works fine -- for the most part by D

I was a previous user of the Apple Remote app for the iOS platform. I wanted similar functionality on the Win8 platform and this app delivers the major features. I am a happy with the app -- and I even paid to remove the adverts. But it is not perfect. When I manually search for a song by typing in the search dialog box, the app crashes after I select a song to play. I prefer to view my catalog by looking at the name of artists rather than the name of albums -- while the app allows me to do this, I have to tell the app to sort by artist each time I select a song to play. You cannot create or modify playlists. Despite these quibbles, the app performs admirably. I noticed some negative reviews questioning the purpose of the app. I use it because I have multiple speakers in my home connected through Apple Airplay. I can control these speakers through this app on my Win 8 tablet.

The only, so the best. by James

Does everything they say it can do. Looks pretty and functions well. Everything it is, is flawless, but the thing it doesn't is pretty big. It would be a perfect remote if it could add to and edit the "up next" list.

Useful In My Case by Garsche

I admit, the app is not useful in most cases, but if one wants to use it as a sidebar to control music without having to switch windows on the desktop, this is perfect!

Doesn't work like a smooth Apple Product (Expected) by Blanca

Downloaded the app - I was expecting it would find my Apple music library the way my iPhone does but it didn't. Three options were available 1. Change PC Settings Change them to what! 2. Check network connection My network connection is fine 3.Turn on find devices and content it's turned on. The other option was to manually input my Apple Computer name - I didn't bother. The expectation of modern apps are to be somewhat convenient with easy set up. This wasn't the case. Removed from my Surface 4. If someone figured this out, feel free to let me know!

    Works as advertised by Duane

Works as advertised similar to Apple Remote. Quick and simple pairing. Would really like to see enhancements for functional connectivity to internet radio and iTunes radio as in the Apple remote.
