The MyID® Certificate Loader from Intercede® is a Windows app that allows users to create a Virtual Smart Card (VSC) and load certificates to their Windows 8.1 Pro and Windows 8.1 RT device. The MyID Certificate Loader will: • create a VSC • allow on-device PFX files (containing the user’s private key and certificate) to be imported into the VSC • allow certificates to be viewed • allow a VSC to be deleted Once a certificate and key with appropriate usage is imported into the VSC it can be used by other Windows applications, such as Outlook on Windows 8.1 Pro, for signing and decrypting emails and for mutual SSL client authentication using Internet Explorer on Windows 8.1 Pro and RT devices. This version of MyID Certificate Loader supports one VSC per device. Windows Pro: On Windows Pro devices the user must have local admin rights. It is also important that the following registry setting be configured to value “5” as shown below: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]"ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin"=dword:00000005 Please be aware that the TPM must be in a “Ready to use” state. About Virtual Smart Cards A Virtual Smart Card is protected by the hardware security of the phone. When a VSC is created the user is required to set a PIN.
