Description

REQUIRES HALO 5: GUARDIANS ON XBOX ONE. THIS IS A TOOL FOR HOSTING LOCAL MULTIPLAYER MATCHES AND DOES NOT CONTAIN ACTUAL GAME CONTENT Halo 5: Guardians Local Server provides a new way to create, host and play custom multiplayer games in Halo 5: Guardians on Xbox One on a local network. Using this simple application, players can host a local server on a Windows 10 PC connected to the same network as Xbox One consoles for low-latency Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer matches. This app provides a method for local tournament organizers to set up their own events in a scenario that closely mirrors professional matches. Using this tool, you can create a local server similar to those used for the Halo Championship Series and Halo World Championship esports events, providing an ideal proving ground for everything from professional and amateur competitive teams to friendly tournaments. Additionally, all players can use this app to create their own custom games, including custom game types and community maps created using the in-game Forge mode. Internet connectivity for host PC and consoles is required for Xbox Live sign-in and Post-Game Carnage Reports but all core gameplay traffic is transmitted over the local network, significantly reducing internet bandwidth requirements. This tool is designed specifically for console users, and does not work with Halo 5: Forge on Windows PC.

Benefits of this app include: -Faster connectivity for low-latency multiplayer matches in Halo 5: Guardians for Xbox One -Easy setup - simply launch the app, join the custom server in the game, and play! -Significantly reduces internet bandwidth requirements -Closely replicates tournament setups used for esports events like Halo Championship Series and Halo World Championships Requirements: -Windows 10 PC that meets or exceeds system requirements listed below -Local network connection for host PC and Xbox One consoles with Internet connectivity -Xbox Live membership for each Xbox One console

Note: This tool is designed specifically for console users, and does not work with Halo 5: Forge on Windows PC.

So happy to finally have LAN outside of events by Zachariah

For someone with bad internet, I can't fully express how much this is going to improve my H5 experience.

So simple its confusing by Scottsdale

Once the app is running that's it its done. There are a bunch of other useless buttons but just turn it on and it works. The game asks you to choose the server at the top of the match window.

Love the idea and excited but.... by Tyler

For real, 343, can you please make something that's not broken? haha I have no doubt in my mind that these things aren't easy systems to develop, but I really can't believe that with 5 other reviews, including myself, saying the same thing about this app being broken that you even tested this system yourself. It really makes me question your QA department. I will change my review once this is fixed.

Works fine, but could have some improvements by Nathan

For me, it started up fine. I put in the server name and pressed enter. Then the name disappeared and that was it. I was confused until I booted up Halo: 5 and found it listed under the server host in Custom Games. It would be nice to have a sort of "ADMIN" dashboard that came up on the PC screen that shows the name of the room at the top, how many slots available, and the names of people that join, with the ability to boot players from the server at will. Also, maybe a dashboard to make custom games (tweaking damage/resistance, respawn timers, infinite ammo, etc.) for quick on the spot gamemode adjustments. I will state that I initially thought that this would allow same console LAN multiplayer, something unavailable for the first time in Halo's history. I was slightly disappointed because I thought that having servers hosted by a PC would take the load of private servers off of a console and give it the ability to use that newfound power to have same-console multiplayer.
