Description

New: Support for Windows 10 Mobile and a fix for a common issue that stopped downloading messages or prevented the app from finding your phone.

Your Windows Phone backs up your text messages, but WP Message Backup is the first app to give you detailed access to those messages. In this beta version of the app, you can browse and export all of the messages you’ve sent or received. It supports normal SMS text messages, picture messages, group messages, video message, and pretty much anything else. You can export messages and conversations as plain text, CSV, or XML.

WP Message Backup does not allow you to send text messages. A Microsoft Account with an associated Windows Phone is required, and that phone must be set to backup text messages (to configure this, look under Backup in Settings).

It's the only choice... by Jim
Yes, plenty of problems, but when this guy gives up, we are finished. This is the only choice. Be nice and encourage this developer. Every other source says this task can't even be done at all.

Not bad, but my mind isn't blown. by Preston
Got the app to work finally. Apparently, if there is any issue causing you to be unable to sign in (incorrect username/password, etc.) or connect (backup off, etc.) then it just closes. Now that I've used it, I like what I see so far, but the app doesn't load all the messages upon retrieval. It seems to do it in random intervals. Also, the settings snap panel is empty. Add a prompt to explain errors instead of just closing, add the force refresh, have the retrieval collect and display all messages up to the time of refresh, and I would give this app 5 stars. As it is, 2 is the best I can offer. (UPDATE: Had given it 3, but it hasn't loaded any of my messages from the past 12 hours, although it says it's downloading them.) ORIGINAL REVIEW "Does not work." OS: Windows 10 The app opens, asks me for my credentials, I enter them, the app closes. That's all it does. Please fix so that I can get a feel for what this app is truly like and can give it a more accurate rating.
