Description
iCell gives students, teachers, and anyone interested in biology a 3D view inside a cell. Included are examples of three types of cells: animal, plant, and bacteria. Learn about the various parts of the cell, which biologists, biochemists, and DNA researchers at the HudsonAlpha Institute study and use to advance the limits of biotechnology.
You can use your finger to tap on parts of the cell to select and zoom in on that particular organelle. Each organelle comes with a name and a short description of its function in the cell.
For a better view of each cell, hold down one finger on the screen, and drag to rotate around the cell or selected organelle. You can zoom in and out by pinching or flaring with two fingers at once.
We hope you enjoy!

Fantastic! by Robert
Amazingly done. To improve it, there should be a vocab feature and a quiz to test you on the information. If more apps were made by this company regarding other science topics, I would even pay for the apps!!!!

A great way to refresh your memory of organelles by Jason
The first time I saw the page with all the organelles inside the cell, I was mesmerized. It was beautiful to see all that complexity inside the cell, and then be able to sort it out. This should be a great learning tool. The graphics are simple but very good. I wish you could click on ribosomes to get a description of those, but they did a good job describing them in the description for endoplasmic reticulum.

HudsonAlpha's iCell app by Jim
This Huntsville, AL company has and is doing great things for Alabama such as the iCell app. They have trained some 160,000 plus folks as part of their goal of getting more students to major in biology. iCell is only one training tool, but an astounding one. Gets my vote of 5 stars. HudsonAlpha promises to be a leader in biotechnology throughout the world. Substantial and very significant impacts have been made in the short life of this corporation. The outreach to the Huntsville community has been spectacular with the continuation of Biotech 101 and 201 classes. And throughout Alabama teachers and students in the thousands have been engaged in such a way that the term biotechnology is much less a science fiction thing than it is a real here and now thing capable of saving lives and literally turning the field of medicine it a totally different direction for patient health. The iCell app allows students and teachers to learn in more depth the fundamental aspects of life.

You can view plant, animal, and bacteria cells. You can also change the difficulty level of the text and rotate the cell, viewing it at different distances.

False Information by colin
It is helpful for students and a good tool for beginning learners however some information is false. For example there are no Lysosomes in Plant cells but in the diagram for plant cells this app shows them. Also, movement around the cell should be easier for the user. NOT NEARLY AS GOOD AS OTHER APPS LIKE IT.
