Description

The Cold War ignites when '80s era action toys come alive and wage war! Toy Soldiers: Cold War Touch Edition delivers hours of intense combat combined with non-stop action strategy gameplay, now redesigned for tablets and touch-enabled PCs running Windows 8!

Superpowers collide in this playful homage to '80s action toys and films. Command the powerful Cold War arsenals of the USA or USSR armies, while controlling base turrets, modern combat vehicles, fighter jets, attack helicopters, and commando action figures. When not fighting in a campaign vie for the highest scores on the mini-game leaderboards, and while you're at it, don't forget to BLOW EVERYTHING UP!

In addition to the main campaign, includied with the Windows 8 version are both the NAPALM and EVIL EMPIRE add-on campaigns from Xbox LIVE® Arcade. Fight alongside your favorite Commando again while pushing into the jungles of the Viet Cong in NAPALM and join Ivan in the fight against a rising super power in EVIL EMPIRE.

The games good. But bugs galore! by Zeke

EDIT: It's been almost 3 years since this review. In that time, two NEW iterations of Windows have been released and this game has always been featured in the app store. And yet, there's still been no update. Period. Still version 1.0. That's beyond unacceptable. Original review below -------------------------------- The game is really good, and is probably the best game on the Windows Store so far. It's challenging but not hard and very fun. However, there are two problems that need to be addressed before my rating becomes a 5. First problem: Windows RT support would be excellent why isn't it here yet? I would love to be able to play this game on my Surface when abroad. Second problem: This game has been out since the release of Windows 8. Why hasn't there been an update to fix bugs, glitches, etc.?

Great game - I love this game by John-Paul

This is a great game for so many reasons. I wish they would keep adding scenarios and maps, as its one of the best strategy/action games I've played.

    Fun but... by Joseph

At first, it was really fun and had all three campaigns. After a while, something happened. Two campaigns never made it to the home screen and now I am just stuck with the main campaign. But on the bright side, the two campaigns only had six missions so it wasn't really a big wool. Other than that, I still believe that the ten dollars was totally worth it. Awesome, Outstanding, Amazing game. But can you please fix it and bring back the napalm and evil empire campaign

Toy Soldiers Cold War: Touch Edition by Caleb

Good but not great... Toy Soldiers Cold War: Touch Edition is among the best tower defense games I've ever played. For pros, the ability to take control of your turrets and shoot the weaponry yourself is a killer feature. I also like the creativity of using 1980s toys and military models. For $10 though, I was disappointed to see some minor graphical bugs and no 2x speed (a common feature in other tower defense games.) The app sometimes crashes at startup, and sometimes, it feels as if there is a slight lag, but maybe it's supposed to be like that.

Dumbed down compared to first Toy Soldiers by Unknown

There's almost no tactical thinking, unlike the first one. You can just blow your way through most levels.

This game runs great on Surface Pro by Scott

I'm not sure what some of these other reviewers were thinking when they said the game lags and then the nonsense about having charms bar open. Craziness is those reviews. I love both my Surface & Surface Pro and even while an Android Developer since 2008, this game runs great on this machine and I don't see lag or any problems in menus. I don't know if they updated the game but this is by far one of the best possible games to show the power of the Surface Pro. Great Game & Developer! Thank you!
